Prerequisites

To install and use the Primus Tools, you need the following:

• Securosys Primus HSM or CloudHSM Service with JCE license and JCE API enabled.
• Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 8 or newer
• “Unrestricted policy” files for Oracle Java (not mandatory for OpenJDK)
  • e.g. downloadable here (see README.txt how to install)

Securosys CloudHSM comes preconfigured for the use of Primus Tools. Simply ensure that the JCE API is included in your subscription.

Get started with CloudHSM

If you are using an on-premise Primus HSM, configure the HSM as described below. These steps need to be performed by the HSM operator.

1. Activate the SO role.
2. Create a Partition. Note down the chosen Partition name and the generated Setup Password.
3. Enable the JCE API in the Device Security Config.
   • If you have enabled the Partition Security Config, also enable JCE there.
